We are excited to announce the planning of the 2nd annual Fountain of Abundance Legacy Conference! We are working hard to bring to you during the weekend of October 16-18, 2015  spiritually uplifting  Entertainment,  dynamic programs, plus informational workshops to keep you engaged all day. The Steering committee is also working diligently to make this year’s conference a success. This year’s conference theme is: “Strengthening Our Islamic Foundation for our Legacy, Longevity and Community through Islamic Leadership”.

We will bring to you:

  • Dynamic speakers ranging from diverse and educational backgrounds
  • Cultural programs and events for both the Adults and children
  • Legacy Awards Banquet honoring those who contribute to making the Midwest Islamic community flourish!

The Fountain of Abundance Legacy Conference was created to honor some of the pioneering leaders and legacy builders in the greater Kansas City area, as well as to encourage and develop leadership skills and vision for all future leaders.

In addition to the awards banquet we have planned, we will be offering workshops that will encourage attendees to work hard towards developing a brighter future for all citizens of the greater Kansas City area.

Dr. Jeanette Hablullah
Jeanette

was born in Topeka, Kansas 1948. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and French from the University of Missouri and has graduate credits in Education and Psychology. In 1992 she began the study of wholistic healing, under internationally known Dr. Cristina Brown in Indianapolis, Indiana and became certified in Reflexology. Continuing her studies with Dr. Brown, she gained certificates in Introduction to Homeopathy and Healing Rays of Light. In 1995 she received the degree of Doctor of Naturopathy from the Clayton College of Natural Healing, Birmingham, Alabama. She continued her studies with a course of Oriental Medicine in 1996 with Dr. Mei Ling at the Harmony Health center in Chicago, Illinois. In the summer of 2006 she completed an Intensive Seminar in Botanical Medicine joint sponsored by the University of Maryland School of Medicine, University of Maryland Center for Integrative Medicine and the Botanical Medicine Academy. Dr. Jeanette has practiced wholistic healing since 1993 under her business title, The Pearl Within. She has traveled extensively to present lectures and seminars on various aspects of wholistic philosophies and techniques. While in Sudan in 1998, she had the opportunity to work with Integrative Medicine clinics in Khartoum. In September of 2006 she traveled to Bosnia and, by request, treated several citizens of the town of Stolac and met with a famous Healer in Mostar. In response to repeated requests, in 2003 Dr. Jeanette began Intensive Training for Wholistic Healers. This concentrated course is designed to develop the talent of those who have a Divine mission to heal and has been taught to groups in several states. She has also been active in Islamic work for more than 20 years. She has served as a teacher of Quran and Islamic Studies in schools in Missouri, Illinois and Indiana, including four years a Principal of a weekend school in Indianapolis. Currently, she is teaching Quran Reading at the Farm of Peace in Warfordsburg, Pennsylvania and leading a Quranic Study once a month in Virginia. As a da’wah worker, Dr. Jeanette has spoken to audiences in universities, churches, seminaries, corporate gatherings and high schools and for many years was Islamic advisor to Faces of Faith, an interfaith television show airing locally in the Indianapolis area. She holds certificates in Arabic Language, is a hifz student (memorizing Quran) and has to date memorized six juza (sections of the Quran). In January 2005, she was blessed to complete the journey of Hajj. She is author of “The Magnificent Organ” and “Orientation to Wholistic Thought”. In addition, The Pearl Within publishes a quarterly Wholistic Health Newsletter and hosts a monthly conference call. These publications and CD’s are available through Olive Media Services, a publishing company in which she is a partner (omspublishing.com). Dr. Jeanette has five children, seven grandchildren and currently resides in the state of Maryland.

Imam Vernon Fareed

Religious and civic leader Vernon M. Fareed was born on December 31, 1953 in Norfolk, Virginia. Throughout his childhood, his parents instilled strong values that followed him through his life, despite segregation. Raised a Christian, he joined the Nation of Islam at the age of eighteen. He converted to the traditional form of Islam in 1975.

 

In 2000, Fareed became a member of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities (VCIC). He went on to become the chair of the Tidewater Chapter and serve on its state board. In 2005 Imam Fareed became the first Muslim of African-American descent to offer the invocation for the Virginia State Senate. Fareed also wrote for the New Journal and Guide newspaper in 1983 as a columnist, and he currently serves as the Manager and President of Salaam Investment Group, LLC. Since 1976, Fareed has been the Imam of Masjid [Mosque] William Salaam which helps to serve almost 6,000 Muslims in the Hampton Roads’ community.

 

For his religious work, Fareed received an Honorary Doctoral Degree from Bishop Jessie Featherston at Trinity Mission University in 1997. He also received VCIC’s National Humanitarian Award in 2006 for his community involvement. Fareed has served on many boards including the Ministers Advisory Committee to Norfolk’s Police Chief, the FBI Multi-Cultural Advisory Board and Religions for Peace RFP-USA, the largest representative interreligious organization in the world. In addition, he was selected as the National Convener of the Sectional Imams in 2009. Fareed wrote the spiritual book Uniformity in Prayerpublished in 2008.
